Back Pain Help

Many people across the world will suffer from some form of back pain at least once in their lives. It is also one of the top disabling injuries a person can suffer as well as one of the leading causes of lost wages and work hours for companies. In most cases, back pain is very preventable. We are all taught at a very early age to sit up straight and to walk with our shoulders back. As we get older many people forget to use good posture.

There are many causes for back pain. From improper lifting of a heavy object or by wearing improper footwear to over extending our backs will cause pain. The degree of the pain could be anything from a minor ache to a very sharp pain.
For minor pain, a few days of bed rest may be all that you need. Yet if you suffer a sharp or constant pain than it is best to see a physician to get it checked out. The physician will have x-rays taken of your back to see what may be causing your pain. A back pain treatment program will require changes in your lifestyle. Part of your back pain treatment may require you to wear a back brace or support. You may also get referred for physiotherapy as part of your back pain treatment. The physical therapists will recommend a proper diet as well as an exercise program for you to do at home.
Injuries to your back can also lead to other problems such as Sciatica. This condition is caused by pressure on the sciatic nerves which is situated throughout the lower body and legs. The pressure to this nerve is usually caused by a slipped disc in your lower back. Osteoarthritis of the spine can also cause it. A symptom of this condition is a burning pain shooting from your buttocks and down the back of your thigh. If bending your back makes the pain worse seek medical attention as soon as possible.
There is no cure for Sciatica. Finding out the cause will lead to the beginning of the best treatment for the condition. Some ways a physician may help you to ease the pain would be through prescription medications. Another way would be to avoid squatting or standing in place as much as possible. When you are at rest sit or lie with your legs elevated to take the  pressure off your lower back. Staying healthy and physically fit along with common sense will prevent most back injuries.
